Pancreatic Heterotopia in the Jejunal Mesentery

Abstract
Pancreatic heterotopia, located in jejunal mesentery of a 30-years old woman who had equivocal symptoms of gastrointestinal tract is reported with brief review of literatures.
On exploration, a single firm yellowish-brown colored 4.5¡¿3.5 cm sized mass with granular surface was found in the subserosa of the proximal jejunal mesenterium. On microscopic examination, there was well developed pancreatic tissue with pancreatic acini, interlobular ducts, Langerhans¢¥s islects cells and localized inflammatory reactions of the surrounding serosa and regional nodes.
Pancreatic heterotopia of no particular clinical symptom and sign is a condition that should be in mind, recognized, and taken into due consideration by the surgeon who operates on gastrointestinal tract.
The histologic diagnosis based on examination of frozen section at the time of operation is essential.
